It’s not just me, right? There’s just something kinda creepy about this picture, featured in Kevin Kidney’s blog post on a 1961 Midwest Magazine fashion spread. Maybe it’s the fact that his hands are so much smaller than they should be, compared to his head. Maybe it’s the fact that he doesn’t really have much of a torso. But mostly, it’s the pinned pupils, they make him look evil.

Uber-creepy! Love the photo for all its weirdness. This is the first iteration of a Mad Hatter I’ve seen who really looked mad (as in angry) rather than garden variety mad (as in crazy). Frankly, he looks as if he’s fantasizing about tossing her off the bridge.
As for the fashion angle, is this suggested park touring wear? Or are they just using the castle as an interesting backdrop? Either way, it is, at best, an odd juxtaposition of themes.
